Vote Baby, Vote!
We've been leading up to this for the last several meetings and it's now finally time to cast your vote for our next Guild Vice President and Treasurer. To help you learn more about your candidates, their submission forms were sent via email. You will note that we have one candidate running for Vice President and two for Treasurer. Please take a moment to look over their submissions to familiarize yourself with their background, capabilities, and some of the ideas that they bring to the role.
All three of our candidates will also have an opportunity to address the Guild at our meeting. After you've heard from them directly, it will be time for you to cast your ballots! Remember, you must be a "member in good standing" (i.e., your dues must be paid July 31, 2024- August 1st, 2025) to vote and you must be present to vote. No absentee ballots and/or "voting for a friend." We expect to announce the results of the election by the conclusion of our August meeting.
We are grateful to our three candidates for their generous spirit of volunteerism. Our organization is stronger because of their candidacy. We can all show our appreciation by casting a vote!
Our first meeting of the new SRKG year is always a busy one and this year is no exception. It's time for annual membership renewal and new program ideas!
Dues can be paid on-line via paypal (with the extra fee$ of course) or in-person at the meeting. Yes. You must submit a new form even if you have paid on-line. It really helps us keep track.
New Programming?!?!?! Yay!! It's that time of year again for us to decide what we want for this upcoming year! Bring your ideas for the annual programming meeting! This meeting is always a lot of fun because we hear from YOU what you'd like to see, hear and do!
Wow! That's a lot! It's going to be a great evening and we can't wait to see what our next year brings!
July 1, 2025 Meeting
Our next in-person meeting will be next Tuesday, July 1st from 7-9 PM at the Annapolis Elks Lodge.

Please remember that our servers are all volunteers and we should jump in and help bus our tables!
GUILD ELECTION UPDATE - RUN, BABY, RUN!
Don't forget, elections for Vice President and Treasurer will take place during our August meeting. We are accepting expressions of interest for both of these critically important officer positions until July 25th. If you would like to run for one of these posts (and we hope you will consider it!!), you may complete the form and bring it with you to the July meeting or simply email a completed electronic copy to Ann Merchant who is chairing our Nomination Committee (amerchant01@gmail.com).
We will be voting in August. There are no provisions for absentee balloting so you must be present to vote. You also have to be paid up on your dues if you want to vote, so take time during the July meeting to be sure you're a "member in good standing." When we circulate the attendance sheet, you can verify your membership status by checking to see whether there is an asterisk by your name. If there is, check in with Linda A. to resolve any outstanding questions/problems so that you can vote in August.
Our Guild benefits from your participation! Consider running for one of these offices -- it is fun, rewarding, and important. Perhaps most important of all is exercising the opportunity to vote! It's the simplest and most effective way to get involved! VOTE, BABY, VOTE!
Summer is here and it's a great time to knit small and portable things! To help you keep your cool and keep you knitting (or crocheting), how ‘bout knitting some knockers or shawls for the Breast Cancer center? Our very own Jenn Blackburn will demonstrate just how easy it is to knit a knocker or two! We'll have beautiful shawl kits and yummy yarn for your knockers. All you have to do is bring your DPN's! Size 5 DPN's make it easy to knit bottom-up knockers.
To really kick off Summer, let's up the ante on our charity knitting and have a contest! Bring your shawls and knockers for show n' tell AND to turn in to be eligible for prizes!! Then? Grab another shawl kit or knocker yarn and do it again!! We'll be keeping a tally and somebody's gonna win big! Charity knitting and prizes? YES PLEASE!
Wow! What an exciting time for our South River Knitting Guild!! Elections, Knockers, Contests... oh my!!

It's time for the annual WORLD WIDE KNIT IN PUBLIC DAY!!!
Come join us for a fun-filled day of knitting (or crochet!) in public at the Annapolis Mall!
We'll meet you Saturday, June 14th 11am-2pm at the food court in the Annapolis Mall!! Grab some lunch and hang out with friends!
Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner, this event is perfect for all knitting (and crochet) enthusiasts! Bring your current projects, and enjoy a day of creativity and camaraderie!
You're not going to want to miss out on this fantastic opportunity to knit in public and showcase your skills!
PS.. even though it says World Wide Knit in Public Day... it can totally be World Wide CROCHET in public day!! Don't let your sticks & hooks stay home and be lonely!
Don't forget to bring 5-6 of your favorite stitch markers for the stitch marker swap!
See you Saturday, June 14th in the Annapolis Mall Food Court at 11am.
Hello everyone!
Once again, we've got a jam-packed evening planned for you! Our next in-person meeting will be next Tuesday, June 3rd from 7-9 PM at the Annapolis Elks Lodge.
Dinner and beverages are available for individual purchase (cash only) from the Elks between the hours of 5-7 PM.
Please remember that our servers are all volunteers and we should jump in and help bus our tables!
This month we will be hosting a Zoom Call with Ms. Sally of Knit Companion!!! This is a 1.5-hour intro session and should be a great way to get the scoop on just how great this program is! Knit Companion is not just another knitting app! Knit More, Frog Less is their slogan! No more sticky-notes, tape, markers or even losing a page of a printed pattern! Multiple PDF patterns, markers, highlighters, charts, one-tap tracking, you name it! A total crafting toolbox in one app!
If you're a current user, please bring your device (tablet, iPad, phone) however you use Knit Companion, to share with your friends. **The Elks lodge may have their new wi-fi installed by June 3rd and then it won't be a problem, but? IF the connection gets sketchy, we may have to limit our devices.
The program will start promptly at 730pm and last for only 1.5 hours (with a short question period at the end) so please be seated and ready for our business meeting at 7pm! Then it has to be all ears for Ms. Sally of Knit Companion.
I knit & crochet... and I vote!
That's the slogan we want you all to adopt in August when we will hold elections for two important Guild positions. Both our current Vice President (Karen Santa) and Treasurer (Suzy Smith) will rotate off this year so it's time for anyone interested in becoming more involved to step up and RUN! For everyone else, showing support for the Guild by VOTING is just as important.
We have a full agenda for our June meeting but before we turn our attention to the Knit Companion program, which constitutes the primary focus for the evening, we'll take a few minutes to talk about the upcoming election process. Karen and Suzy will describe the roles of VP and Treasurer, respectively, so that anyone who would like to consider throwing their hat in the ring understands what is involved. We will also distribute Candidate Submission forms (also attached here) for anyone who would like to run for one of the vacant offices.

May Meeting - May 6, 2025

The South River Knitting Guild will be hosting an in-person meeting on Tuesday, May 6th from 7-9 PM at the Annapolis Elks Lodge. Dinner and beverages are available for individual purchase from the Elks between the hours of 5-7 PM.
*Please remember that this is cash only and also that the servers are volunteers! We should all jump in and help bus our own tables.
This month our program will be "What the heck is this?" Or maybe it's "Mystery Yarn Theater! " Who knows? I have so many questions and I bet you do as well!
Ever open up your stash drawer (room!) and wonder just what that unlabeled skein of yarn is? Do you have balls of yarn that were for something but you forgot what for and what they even are? Did you maybe get a mystery skein at last month's yarn swap?? Our meeting this month may have the answers you're looking for.
Bring some mystery yarn (you know you have some!) and let's dive into the deep end of mystery yarn! *If you're an expert in this field, feel free to bring your favorite tools to help the rest of us figure it out!
See you next week!
SRKG
Things to note:
End of SRKG Calendar year - July 31st
Elections for VP (programming chair) & Treasurer are coming up in August *Election/Nominating Committee will be chosen July meeting*

April Meeting - April 1, 2025
April showers bring out yarn flowers!? Is this a thing? Sure it is for the SRKG!
It's time for the SRKG Annual Yarn Swap!
If you would like to participate, please bring at least one item for the swap (yarn, project bags, knitting books, needles, tools, etc.) Once you've collected your things, please count up the total number of items as this determines the order you get to 'shop the swap'. Tickets will be given and then drawn for second shopping rounds.
We have just a couple of 'rules' to help make this a lot more fun.
Please:
Only bring full balls/skeins of yarn for the swap.
Tools in good working condition.
Books * We all love books, but if they haven't found a new home at the end of the night, they must go back home with you. Most places will NOT take books.
Group like things together (i.e. two or more of one skein = one item) in clear baggies.
***We're going to have a couple of boxes for partial skeins and yarn (Acrylic!) to donate to Project Linus and a couple of our artsy teacher friends!
Leftover things - will be taken and donated to SCRAP B'More. NO BOOKS.
Bring out your skeins ~ We'll see you on April 1st

February 4, 2025 Meeting
Our program this month is Double Knitting! Our very own Amy V will be demonstrating the technique of Double Knitting with the "Lucky Hearts Coaster".
The supply list is in the pattern, but for those of us who need to know right now(!) here it is...
Supplies needed to make your very own Lucky Hearts Coaster:
-
Pattern - Lucky Hearts Coaster - it's free in the notes on the pattern page in Ravelry. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lucky-hearts-coaster
-
Yarn - DK weight - 20 yards each of 2 (contrasting) colors
-
Needles - US 8 **Please note! Using a needle size one or two sizes smaller than recommended makes for a better fabric
-
If you choose another type of yarn (Which is ok! It's a coaster after all!) use a needle one or two sizes smaller as recommended for whatever yarn you choose, i.e. ball band says US 6, try a US 5 or US 4
